Sheila Duda Brandow, O.D.
Dr. Sheila Duda Brandow completed her undergraduate studies at Wayne State University on a full Merit Scholarship. She completed her pre-medicine requirements in three years and was accepted early at the Illinois College of Optometry where she graduated in 1995.
She went on to complete her internship at the V.A. Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. Her residency was completed at the Harvard Affiliated Brockton/West Roxbury V.A. Medical Center where she received specialized training in ocular disease and contact lenses.
While a resident in the Boston area, Dr. Brandow worked at the Boston V.A. Medical Center and was adjunct professor at the New England College of Optometry. She is currently on staff at the John D. Dingell VA Hospital in Detroit.
Dr. Brandow is Board Certified in Medical Optometry. She is past president of the Detroit Metropolitan Optometric Society. She has been a member of the American Optometric Association, Michigan Optometric Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Brandow provides comprehensive eye care with an emphasis on Dry Eye disease. She enjoys fitting contact lenses of all types including Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) for the temporary relief of nearsightedness, and performs low vision exams for patients with severely reduced vision.
Dr. Brandow has initiated a Dry Eye clinic at Lakeside Ophthalmology Center and employs nutritional supplements, lubricating drops/gels, punctum plugs and amniotic membrane contacts to combat the annoying and often debilitating symptoms of Dry Eye.
