Laser Cataract Surgery
- Posted on: Mar 7 2016
The term “laser” certainly captures one’s attention. For many years, the term laser has been associated with small incision cataract surgery. The reality is that a true laser has only been available for the past 4 to 5 years. This high precision laser is used to correct the curvature of the eye when astigmatism is present.
Here at Lakeside Ophthamology Center we have been incorporating this laser (known as femtosecond laser) in our cataract surgery regime. Keep in mind, however, that your insurance company does not consider this laser as part of routine cataract surgery and thus there is an out of pocket expense on your behalf.
We will be happy to discuss with you whether you are a good candidate for this exciting technology.
